Online Resources

As a first step of promoting anthracological research in West Africa and in disclosing the groundwork of charcoal identification in the region on a wider basis than usually possible in supporting online material, SEM images of charcoal fragments from the site Mege, Nigeria are now openly accessible online via: https://arachne.dainst.org/catalog/954/616804.The aim is to provide a documentation, a reference and a basis for discussion of charcoal types present in (West) African charcoal assemblages. This is work in progress.

An online map with all the sites in Egypt where archaeobotanical analysis is ongoing have be created by Dr. Mennat-Allah El Dorry, Lecturer of Archaeobotany, Faculty of Archaeology, Ain Shams University and a Postdoctoral Researcher, CNRS/ERC Desert Networks Project, HiSOMA, Lyon. The sites and information on the map will continuously be updated with new sites and bibliographic information.
